Current Campaign: Legend of the Torufu Temple

Session 7 & 8

May 10th, & May 18, 2025

05/10/25 [session time = 2 hours]

  When last we were with the party had wandered into what seemed like an Erufu market or small village. Bodies were found everywhere completely dismembered. After some time investigating, from out of the shadows a group of large wolf-like beasts [Okaru} attacked the party!

  Barely surviving the onslaught, KP and Dorian are the only ones to survive, and manage to dispatch the last of the wolf-creatures. They decide to leave the scene and try to find safe surroundings. Heading West, they investigate a building with strange markings and a carving of a Tooth Amulet on the door.

After some attempts to gain access they place an amulet into the spot on the carving on the door. The PC had an instance of visions of death, battle, great winged beasts, all within seconds, showing all of the inhabitants of this world in battle with great flying beasts of fire. After the visions ended the door swung open and inside the pari found the remains of the Erufu villagers strewn in pieces through out the floor of the barn.

  KP & Dorian decide to torch the building to put to rest the remains. They light the barn on fire and continue to head West away from this massacre scene. KP & Dorian venture into the jungle West of the Erufu village in hopes of finding their way back to some point they are familiar with.

  After some slow travel through the dense jungle, they come upon some tracks and decide to investigate as it could mean more humans. Unfortunately it did not. Instead they were set upon by two huge wild Boar!! After a brief back and forth, avoiding tusks and firing arrows, thepair finally kill the boars. KP decides to cut up the meat and save it for food.

The pair then continue West and exit the jungle patch into a tall grass field. For some reason once they travelled a few yards into the field they had the feeling they were being watched. Sure enough another human appeared from the tall grass. Unable to communicate, the being merely observed KP and Dorian from a distance.

  From out of the corner of his eye KP spotted movement in the grass to the North. He signalled Dorian to crouch and be silent as they try to observe quielty what could be heading their way. The human they just encounter, vanishes in an instant into the grass. Only to pop up a few yards away as it looks to be observing the commotion as well. After a few minutes, KP and Dorian finally get a glimpse of what is encroaching on their position, cattle. A pair of cattle are grazing on the grass unaware of the presence of the adventurers.

Just then the newest party member springs up from the tall grass and ponces on one of the cattle. He takes it down and kills it. The other one runs off. KP and Dorian watch this with morbid curiosity as the human man kills then skins the beast. The duo decide not to join in on the kill and head Westward.

  They come to the edge of a forested area and find a well travelled path leading through it. As they head up the path they are confronted by three more humanoid persons. After displaying htey mean no harm the three new characters explain to KP & Dorian some of the history of the area that their ancestors encountered and passed down to them.

NPC1 “ This area is a playground for some giant magical beast that brought our ancestors here from our homeland merely to play with them and challenge them with all sorts of fantastical beasts and encounters where they almost perished. Our ancestors learned to communicate with some of the locals called the Erufu. From this they learned that this world was once under their rule and who or whatever this great beast is that brought us here, showed up from the heavens and brought with it monsters of unknown horrors. They had many battle but to no avail as the great beast took up refuge in the forbidden zone, an area called Darmandu by the locals. For generations our people searched for a way to get back to our world with no success. There are many strange and scary inhabitants of this world that would rather kill and eat you than to talk with you.”

  At this point the being took out what looked like a flute or whistle of some sort.

“Use this to call us if you are in trouble. If it is close to our territory, we will assist in any way we can. Humans must stay united on this world if we are to survive to make it home.” With that, KP took the flute and agreed to use it if they are in over their head.

The three people gestured and then left back into the forest. KP & Dorian decide to camp for the night.

KP sets up a bear trap just south of their position on the path.
 

05/18/25 [session time = 2 hours]

  We now rejoin our adventurers in the forests of Ambian. When we last joined KP & Dorian they had encountered three humans that enlightened the duo of some of the lore of this strange world they find themselves in called Ambian.

After some morning food and drink, KP decides to check on his bear trap. When he comes upon the spot he set it up he sees that the trap was sprung as there are bits of some sort of animal left behind. As he investigates more he then notices the human that they encountered in the tall grass field the day before, sitting on the path eating whatever was caught in the trap.

KP signals to the human and gestures for him to follow and join them. The being just stares back at KP with no emotion and continues to eat. Then without warning he grunts out what KP thinks is a name, Gunar [goonar]. In that instant the being throws some of the meat from the kill towards KP.

KP picks it up and gestures a thank you to the newly identified Gunar.

  KP heads back to join Dorian and Gunar is right behind him. The adventurers decide to follow the path North to see where it goes. They exit the trees onto what looks like an ancient road or pathway which heads West and East. They decide to go West.

The party, now a trio, head West down the road and eventually come to what looks like an end to the forested area. Just before they venture further, Dorian decides to investigate some tracks that he spotted heading into a thicket of trees. KP also finds tracks just past Dorian, so they both head into the trees to investigate. As soon as they do that Gunar, displays a very stressed and anxious look on his face and paces the road waiting for the pair to return.

  KP & Dorian come upon what looks to be a circle of stones surrounding one large stone, seemingly placed in this fashion on purpose. There are 20 small palm-sized stones placed in a circle around one large rock that has a carving of a tooth amulet on top of it. KP decides to place his tooth amulet onto the spot that shows the amulet carving. When he does this the amulet sets into that spot and instantly the smaller stones all glow. There are 10 red glowing stones and 10 blue glowing stones. The red stones are instantly recognized as Spell Stones, but the blue ones are a bit different from the Heal Stones that they’ve found before. These are a deeper blue and seem slightly larger.

  Dorian decides to pick up the stones and split them with KP, at which point Dorian also decides to try to use one of the Blue stones to heal himself. The stone not only healed him it rejuvenated Dorian back to full health [without having to roll]. After the stonesa re gathered KP tries to recover his Tooth Amulet. When he picks it up it turns to dust and disintegrates.

The pair re-join Gunar back on the road, and continue heading West.

  The road leads them out of the forest and to the edge of what looks to be a dry almost desert-like area. Gunar is not pleased that they decided to go into this area as his face tells them he is anxious and doesnt want to venture into this place. KP and Dorian gesture to keep going, Gunar does slowly and reluctantly, behind them.

  Our party exits the forested area from a high vantage point and after surveying the site they decide to venture down and see what they can find. The area looked as though it was an archaeological dig of some sort with what looks to be giant sized bones of some sort at the bottom of a pit area. Upon reaching the sandy ground they notice tracks in the sand, very large with only 4 digits, heading in all directions. Some are obviously very old while there are some that lead into the dig area that look very recent.

  They reach the entrance to the dig site which is contained behind a gated fence. KP tries the gate and it swings open, looking very old and hasnt been used in some time. Upon entering the dig area, Dorian decides to get a high vantage point to see what exactly these bones are that are being excavated. He scrambles to the top of a rock perch to the East of the pit. Once there he sees that these are not any bones, but Dragon bones!. Dorian calls out to KP and Gunar what he sees and says that he sees a few more rocks with the amulet carving on the top of them. KP gestures to Gunar to go down into the pit and check things out. After some rough hand signals, Gunar finally understands what he is to do and heads down into the dig pit.

  Once there Gunar starts to sniff the ground and slowly walk towards the bones to get a better look. KP now descends into the dig pit to join Gunar and see if there is anything of interest. KP gets to the bottom of the second ladder, noticing that there are even more of those foot prints here.As he does so Gunar looks back towards him, but stumbles a bit and bangs his foot on a large rock close by. In that instant Dorian notices the ground to the West of KP and Gunar, start to move. Up from the sand shambles a large beast looking half insect and half...lobster? Roughly 8 feet tall with two large pincer claws and a hard shell back with spikes all over it. The head is shaped like a giant insect with one large eye in the middle. Dorian yells out “ Behind you!!” KP swings around to find this large mutant lobster-like beast looming over him. Yet the beast does not attack. KP notices that the place where you would think would be eyes or one eye, is merely an empty slot across the face of the beast which is glowing red. The beast is turning its head from side to side as if to scan the area, its calws are also doing the same thing, and all the while making a loud TIK TIK noise.

  Dorain yells out again “ There are two more of them!! one to the North and one to the East” and with that Dorian decides he better join the others in case they get into trouble. So he scrambles down the rock ledge and heads over to the West side of the dig where the other two climbed down. On his way around the pit he notices the creatures only moved when there was a sudden noise. “ Hold still!” he yells to KP, and then throws a rock into the pit to see if the creatures would react.

  The three TikTik beasts instantly converge on the spot where the rock hits the ground. KP and Gunar head to the ladders to get out of the pit, slowly trying not to make any noise on the ground to alert the beasts. They make it back up out of the pit.

KP and Dorian both decide to use a Spell Stone of Call Lightning!

KP make his attempt first [NAT 20!!]

Lightning fills the air above the pit and multiple bolts crash tot he ground instantly killing two of the TikTik beasts and severely injuring the third. Dorian also uses his Spell Stone [call lightning] and finishes off the 3rd beast!

  Our adventurers decide to venture back into the dig pit to see what the now recognized as Dragon bones, will offer. Dorian noticed a glimmer of some sort of mineral or maybe gem stone sitting in the gaps of the skull bones of the Dragon skeleton. Upon investigation he found several Ambite stones, 20 in total [20 x 250xp each = 5000 xp ... 2500 xp each] KP and Dorian decide to split the stones between them to possibly barter with down the road if they encounter any of the locals.

  Dorian decide to take some Dragon tooth as a memento or maybe a tool or weapon to use later on. As soon as he touches the tooth he blacks out and is now standing in a comatose state. His eye darting back and forth as visions crash his mind. Visions of battles and fire, as if from the point of view of this long dead Dragon, as it attacks and burns armies of the Erufu and other local inhabitant. After only a few seconds he comes out of it. As soon as he does the tooth turns to stone and is now no longer useful.

  KP and Gunar head over to the west side of the dig area to investigate some old tents and what looks like a camp site. KP finds a crude table with a rough map of the dig area, nothing in too much detail. Gunar investigates a cart that holds two large sacs that seem very full and heavy. KP cuts open one of the sacs and notices large chunks of rock that look like Ambite but are darker in colour.

  Gunar grabs the stones and instantly they flash a bright purple haze and Gunar is now floating prone over the cart. Dorian tries to get him out of the trance state using a Spell Stone for cure disease. Gunar regains consciousness but is still floating and cannot move. Klondike Pete uses a Heal Stone which breaks the floating spell around Gunar. Immediately the other sac full of stones explodes and a giant floating orb with one huge eye and several tentacles is now floating above the party.

  The floating eyeball orb uses one of its tentacles and blasts an energy beam at Gunar, causing damage. Dorian whips out his white Stone of Possession and uses it on the eyeball orb. He causes it to float closer and KP strikes it with a spear causing enough damage to almost incapacitate the creature.

  Dorian uses another Spell Stone [Melt] and almost dispatches the creature completely. The eyeball orb breaks free of the possession spell and in another flash of purple light, the creature duplicates itself. The second Orb is in the exact state though, not 100% healthy.

  Dorian steps up onto the cart to take a swing at the eyeball orb with his battle axe [ NAT 1!] but stumbles and falls to the ground cutting himself! Gunar steps forward and jumps up to slash and finish off the first eyeball orb. The other one falls to the ground and slowly dissolves into goo in the sand.

The trio decide to take refuge in one of the tents to rest up from their encounters today.

With all the excitement of the past two sessions the main characters, Klondike Pete and Dorian have now accumulated mucho XP!

KP has jumped to level 7 and Dorian to 6!!
